You’re invited on a Creative Side Quest

Snail Mail Prompts for Creatives

Get an envelope of creative inspiration, prompts & activities,
delivered to your physical mailbox, to support your creative growth journey

NOTE: Creative Side Quest was formerly a monthly subscription, and is now available as single quests, allowing anyone to go on the creative side quests previously only available to subscribers.

If your creativity has felt tired, stuck, overwhelmed, or too busy to play, this is your gentle invitation to take a step outside of your day-to-day and take a little creative detour.

A Creative Side Quest is a beautifully curated (physical) envelope you receive in the (actual) mail with a reflection prompt, creative activity, and other inspirational bits, with each issue’s goodies centered around a unique theme.

Creative Side Quest is a snail-mailed nudge to reconnect to your creative self & have some fun!

Who are Creative Side Quests for?

Creative Side Quests are intentionally designed to spark curiosity and encourage low-stakes creative fun for creatives of all types, backgrounds, and skill levels, without the need for any specific skills or tools.

  • people who want to feel creative but don’t know where to start

  • overwhelmed creatives craving gentle structure

  • writers, artists, makers, and hobbyists who love analog play

  • neurodivergent folks who like clear instructions

  • anyone who loves snail mail, ephemera, and surprises

Note: CSQ was, at one time, a monthly subscription and is now available as single one-off quests. Ordering a Creative Side Quest will result in a single envelope with a single quest being sent to the mailing address you specify.

What’s in a Creative Side Quest delivery?

Here’s what you’ll find in each envelope that arrives in your mailbox:

  • Letter: A heartfelt note from Melanie on that month’s theme

  • Question: A prompt for journaling or mindful reflection

  • Quest: A fun and approachable creative activity or mission, requiring no special skills, tools, or resources to complete.

  • Card: A single card from an on-theme deck for inspiration. (And the link if you want to check out the whole deck)

  • Bonus: Little extra somethings. Stickers, ephemera, or other goodies.

Frequently asked Questions

  • Yep! Totally real physical paper mail you can hold with your actual hands.

Because your mailbox is probably full of uninspiring things like bills and junk mail and a dead bug, and your email inbox is just plain FULL.

This will be so much more fun to receive, and you’ll be less likely to miss it.

  • Snail mail delivery times vary (which is part of the magic!), but typically you’ll get your quest within 6-10 days of ordering.

  • When quests are returned to us, we reach out via email to confirm your address before re-shipping. Check for the address confirmation email in your spam folder.

But if it wasn’t returned to us and it never got to you, we just have to assume the USPS just ate it. Which happens sometimes.

If you haven’t received a quest 30 days after ordering, please send an email to melanie@storyfuel.co and we’ll see about getting a new one sent your way.

  • Creativity knows no borders!

We can send Creative Side Quest to any of the 180 countries that are serviced by First Class Mail.

You can see the whole list here.

  • That’s not a question, but I think so too, and I’m so glad you’ve come along on this journey too! 💜
